This annual event grows out of the observance of the 140 anniversary service observed
in 2012. This was for the first recorded Scandinavian language service held in
Queensland on this St. Andrew’s site, on June 26, 1872. The aim is to have an annual
commemoration around this time but not clash with the Midsummer festival in various
Scandinavian clubs. The purpose of the Service: to acknowledge the Scandinavian
narrative of the Lutheran Church at St. Andrew’s and in Queensland, support the
Scandinavian communities in Brisbane, the Scandinavian Lutheran pastors in Sydney
(Danish, Norwegian, Swedish), plus the Finnish pastor and congregation in Brisbane.
Also, to sing together; eat and drink together; and have some fun! The service will be
multi-lingual
