Ladies and gentlemen, tickets are finally available for the Volvo Scandinavian Film Festival showing at the Palace Barracks Cinemas from July 19-August 5.

If you haven’t attended before, the Volvo Scandinavian Film Festival is an incredible showcase of some of the latest and best Nordic films out there. The opening night film this year is called “Under the Tree” and comes from Iceland (last year, it was “The King’s Choice” from Norway – which was incredible and will be our Sunday review).

This year, Denmark will be showcasing 6 films, Finland will be showing 2 (one of which is the hilarious “Heavy Trip” where some aspiring Finnish metal musicians try to make their way to a metal festival in Norway), Iceland is also showing 2 films (one of which is the opening night/feature film of the Festival), Norway will be showcasing 3 films; and Sweden will be topping the number of contributions this year with 8! You can find a full list of the films as well as links to their individual synopses here.

The Palace is a lovely European style cinema – fully licensed, serving delicious food and snacks – and offering beautiful views over the Brisbane River from the viewing lounges on the ground and top floors.
